CONCEPT: In a “society of the spectacle”, where the consumer can also be consumed, beneath this installation lies the concept of inverting the notion of “showroom”, but also that of improbable spaces and the idea of voyeurism. The familiar MUPI, this ubiquitous and globalized urban object, symbolically stands for the idea that it is possible to intervene in any urban scenario under the excuse of promoting a new product. In our case, fortunately, intervening to promote an idea. This advertising object then becomes the TV set broadcasting real-time images. The subject watches the city from a privileged place where he notices people’s steps, buildings’ colours, cars passing by, all the extras, everything that is going on. In these inhabited screens, lighted up and transparent, the movie never ends. By consciously appropriating this new artistic object, the “MUPI/ TV-SET”, the subject finds him or herself uncannily inhabiting an improbable place. The viewer is therefore driven to a fictional narrative through which he or she must make his or her own unconscious construction of the urban space, one where space-time notions are discussed in the relationship between the dweller and the city as performance stage.
Our conversations turning corners, from your place heading everywhere.
I cannot go anywhere and not hear you.
Your warm fingers here beneath mine.
That house. Do you remember?
I do. (...)
